Confirmation

At St. Viator a team is set up to help prepare the young people for Confirmation. At this time Confirmation is held every two years.

"The reception of the sacrament of Confirmation is necessary ofr the completion of baptismal grace. For "by the sacrament of Confirmation, {the baptized} are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed." (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1285)

Confirmation is the second sacrament of Christian initiation. It is called Confirmation because it confirms and strengthens baptismal grace. Through this sacrament, the grace given in baptism is deepened. In order to be confirmed, an individual must participate in the program that is offered through the parish. In addition to classes the candidates are asked to participate in service projects and a day of prayer.
