Stewardship

Steward - a person put in charge of the affairs of a large household or estate. - one who acts as a supervisor or administrator, as of finances and property.

We are stewards of all that God gives us. All that we are and all that we have is gift from God. We are called by our baptism to use our gifts and talents to live, love and serve one another for the glory of God. (See 1 Corinthians 4:1-2;1 Peter 4:10)

That is the simple truth to Stewardship! It is a Christ centered life. We are here for a short time on a pilgrimage to our eternal home with God. For the work on earth we are given a multitude of gifts and talents to use. We have free will to choose what to do with those gifts and talents.

The church teaches and encourages us to cultivate our gifts by using Gratitude, Generosity, Simplicity, Mercy, Perseverance, Prayer, Humility, Trust, Patience, and Responsibility.

As we continue our journey in Stewardship we are reminded "The secret to happiness is not found in having more but in wanting less. If there is food in your fridge, if you own a pair of shoes, if you have a bed and a roof over your head, you are better off than 75% of the people in this world!" Stewardship Prayer

Almighty God, I give thanks for all that I have and all that I am. Most of all, I give thanks for the great gift of Your Son, Jesus. I pray that through a personal relationship with the Risen Christ, my heart will be open to continued conversion in my life. I pray that I may be a good steward; that I will follow faithfully, serve joyfully, give generously, live responsibly, and possess sensibly. In gratitude for the abundant gifts You have so graciously given to me, I return to You the first fruits of these gifts, through acts of service and by generously sharing all that You have entrusted to me. Heavenly Father, by Your Holy Spirit, help me to be a gift to others in Your name.

Amen.

"He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way for your great generosity, which will produce thanksgiving to God through us; for the rendering of this ministry not only supplies the needs of the saints but also overflows with many thanksgivings to God."

11 Corinthians 9:10-12
